Burma economics minister sacked

News has emerged from Burma of the sacking of an economics minister following comments critical of the military government.

There's been no official announcement of the dismissal of the deputy Planning and Economy Minister , Zaw Tun, but correspondents say such announcements are rarely made.

The minister lost his job earlier this month on the tenth, after he told a business seminar that Burma's military rulers were covering up the truth about the country's economic problems.

He said government policies lacked transparency and consistency, and were aimed at preserving political power.
