US halts schizophrenic man's execution
A court in the American state of Georgia has stayed the execution of a man convicted of murder while it considers whether death by electrocution violates the constitution. It follows a challenge by opponents of capital punishment, who argue that the electric chair is cruel and should be outlawed. The man, Alexander Williams, was due to be put to death on Thursday for the rape and killing of a sixteen-year-old girl. The BBC's Iain Haddow reports:
