UN workers attacked in Timor
The UN described the attack as the worst incident of its kind since refugees began crossing from East Timor after a vote on independence last year. The three UN staff members had been helping build emergency shelters at a UN refugee camp when they were attacked by a crowd wielding machetes, who later tried to drown one of the workers in a paddy field. The UN said that calls were made to the Indonesian military for assistance, but nothing was done. The BBC's Richard Galpin reports:
