Immigrants arrested in Bosnia
Police in Bosnia-Hercegovina say they intercepted seventy-one illegal immigrants at the weekend. They came from Sri Lanka, Turkey and Iran. The police action followed warnings two weeks ago from the head of the United Nations in Bosnia, Jacques Klein, that the country was becoming a major route for smuggling people into western Europe. In a separate incident, twenty-five ethnic Kurds were arrested in Croatia at the same time, and accused of trying to enter the country illegally. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
