Japanese PM arrives in India

The Japanese Prime Minister, Yoshiro Mori, has arrived in South India on the latest leg of his South Asian tour.

It's expected that in his talks with Indian leaders in Delhi tomorrow Tuesday he will continue to focus on the potential for economic cooperation and nuclear non-proliferation, as has been the case in Pakistan during the past two days.

Before leaving Islamabad for India, Mr Mori met the Pakistani military ruler, General Pervez Musharraf, and asked him to join the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.

General Musharraf said he would not not sign the treaty for the time being, but said that Pakistan would not carry out another nuclear test unless India did so first.

Mr Mori did not say anything about lifting the sanctions that were imposed on India and Pakistan two years ago after they both carried out nuclear tests.
