Bengal separatists kill two teachers
In the Indian state of West Bengal, two school-teachers were killed in an attack thought to have been carried out by separatists of the Kamtapuri Liberation Organisation , the KLO. One of those killed, in the town of Jalpaiguri, was a local leader of the state's ruling party, Left Front. A police spokesman said this was the first time the KLO , which is fighting for a separate tribal state in Bengal's northern region, had attacked a leading Left Front figure.
