Indonesia fire sparks security concerns

Senior police from the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, have been called to investigate an explosion and fire in a major oil refinery in the East Kalimantan province on Borneo, in the east of the country.

The Mines and Energy Minister , Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, says he's been told there were signs of sabotage and he's asked for improved security at other refineries and electricity plants.

The state oil company, Pertamina, runs the Borneo refinery which supplies gasoline to much of the eastern region.

It's closed the plant and correspondents say this has prompted concerns about fuel shortages, a problem which has caused civil unrest in the past.
