Best man found hanged
South Wales Police HQ
Police said there were no suspicious circumstances
A 21-year-old Swansea man has been found hanged just five weeks before he was to be best man at his brother's wedding.

Karl John, 21, was discovered hanged from a tree in a quarry at Kittle on the Gower by a man walking his dog.

His brother Barry, 24, was today described as "devastated" over the tragedy - he was due to be his best man next month.

He had things to look forward to

Peter John, father
Karl John had been a paratrooper in the Parachute Regiment but left to get a job in last year.

But he lost his post as a tyre-fitter at a garage in Morriston, Swansea, two weeks ago.

Detectives said there were no suspicious circumstances.

He was found in Barland's Quarry on the edge of Kittle, Gower.

'A bit depressed'

Karl John had been staying with his father Peter John, in Beaufort Gardens, Kittle.

"I don't think what he did was anything to do with losing his job," said Mr John.

"He was a bit depressed but he tends to be up and down all the time.

"He had things to look forward to.

"His brother Barry is getting married in five weeks time and he was to have been best man."

Police said a report will be compiled for the coroner.
