Seven arrested over drug seizures

Police have seized drugs with a street value of nearly £750,000 in a series of raids in Strathclyde.
Seven people were arrested after the four operations on Friday and Saturday. Reports will be sent to the procurator fiscal and those detained are expected to appear in court on Monday. Strathclyde chief constable John Orr said: "The arrests should send a clear message that we will continue to target those who persist in the illicit drugs trade.
The first seizure was on the south side of Glasgow at around 1400BST on Friday. Drugs, believed to be cocaine with an estimated street value of £80,000, were recovered from a vehicle and a 33-year-old man was arrested. The second seizure took place a few hours later on the south side of Glasgow and is also believed to involve cocaine. Two arrested Drugs with an estimated street value of £320,000 were taken from a house in the south side of Glasgow. A 42-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were arrested. That evening police recovered what was believed to be £140,000 worth of heroin after an operation at Glasgow Central railway station. A 28-year-old man was arrested. On Saturday two men, aged 42 and 52, and a 24-year-old woman were arrested after an operation in the Gartcosh area. Drugs, believed to be heroin and cocaine, with a combined street value of £164,000 were recovered.
