Ford flies to the rescue

Ford flew to the rescue in his helicopter
Hollywood star Harrison Ford became a real-life hero when he rescued an ailing hiker from a mountain.

The Indiana Jones and Star Wars actor came to the aid of Sarah George, 20, and Megan Freeman, 22, on Table Mountain, Idaho.

The 58-year-old actor picked up their call for help on his helicopter radio when George was overcome with altitude sickness.

She explained her surprise at finding herself helped by the famous movie star - and her embarrassment at vomiting in his aircraft.

"He was wearing a T-shirt and a cowboy hat. He didn't look like I'd ever seen him before. I can't believe I barfed in Harrison Ford's helicopter," she groaned.

The two women had been on a five-hour climb up the mountain on 31 July when George fell ill.

Heat, altitude and dehydration all began to take their toil on her and she became sick and unable to walk.

It was at this point that her companion telephoned for help on a mobile phone.

But little did the women know that their call would be answered by film action hero Ford in his Bell 407 helicopter.

The star is a part-time resident in the region and according to Teton County Sheriff Bob Zimmer, he is known for being just as noble off-screen as on it.

For some time he has made it known that he was willing to offer up both his flying skills and helicopter for missions of this kind.
