Bodies found in Bhutan landslide disaster

Rescue workers in Bhutan say they have recovered almost two-hundred bodies, after several villages were struck by massive landslides over the last three days.

Indian and Bhutanese soldiers who are continuing rescue operations said many villagers were still missing, probably buried under the rubble.

Across the border in the Indian state of Assam, rising floodwaters along the banks of the Brahmaputra river have submerged the homes of more than two million people, and left at least eighty dead. Hundreds of children and elderly people in relief camps have developed symptoms of dysentery and other waterborne diseases.

Those hit by the floods are also facing a severe shortage of food and medicine.
