Indonesian assembly hears president
The Indonesian president, Abdurrahman Wahid, is facing a crucial test as his country's highest legislative body hears his account of his first ten months in office. Mr Wahid, who has been facing growing criticism in parliament, is making a report to the seven-hundred members of the People's Consultative Assembly or MPR. They will give their response on Tuesday. The assembly speaker, Amien Rais, said this was the first time any Indonesian president had been obliged to make progress reports and he and his colleagues were now charged with listening and discussing them.
