The boy died in hospital from his wounds
A murder inquiry has been launched following the death of a four-year-old boy who was found stabbed at his home on Sunday.

Officers also discovered the boy's father and baby sister with stab wounds at the home in Gosport, Hampshire at 2030BST.

They were all rushed by ambulance to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, but doctors were unable to save the boy, who died soon afterwards.

The man and the girl, aged about one, are both being treated at the hospital.

Intensive care

Hampshire Police said a post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on the boy on Monday afternoon.

A police spokesman added: "The incident is being treated as a murder inquiry."

Serious injuries

The spokesman said that police were called to an address at The Shrubbery, Gosport, as a result of a 999 call.

"They found three people seriously injured with stab wounds and they were all taken to hospital.

"The boy died in hospital and the baby is in intensive therapy.

The father has serious but not life-threatening injuries. The mother is with her baby in hospital."

Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

They have not released the names of the family.
