Bandit issues demands
Efforts are continuing to free one of India's most famous actors, Rajkumar, from the clutches of one of the country's most notorious bandits, Veerappan. Rajkumar was kidnapped last week, and Veerappan has now issued his demands, which include amnesty for his accomplices, more water for Tamil farmers in Tamil Nadu, and the introduction of Tamil as the administrative language in Karnataka. The state governments are so keen to get the 72 year-old actor back safe and sound that they say they will react favourably to the demands. SM Krishna is the chief minister of Karnataka.
