Looking to steal toilet crown

Aberdeen's loos are the envy of some London stations
Two London railway stations are vying to steal the title of best train terminus toilets from Aberdeen.

Aberdeen, which has been judged to have the best station toilets for the last two years, now faces stiff competition from Liverpool Street and Paddington stations.

The three sites were named as finalists in the Station of the Year 2000 competition being organised by Railtrack.

Liverpool Street is also on another shortlist - for the most passenger-friendly major station.

Bar success

It is competing with Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Central.

Railtrack has whittled the finalists down from 8,000 nominations.

The winners will be announced in London on 7 September and representatives from successful stations will be awarded plaques and certificates.

Scotland's capital is still flushed with success after an Edinburgh bar was given the accolade of having Britain's "ultimate loos".

Bar 38 also came top in the Poshest Loo category of the Charmin' Ultimate Loo Awards.
