Yemeni offical shot dead

Gunmen shot dead a senior provincial official and wounded several of his companions in an attack in the capital, Sana'a.

The official Yemeni news agency says that the gunmen sprayed bullets at the car of the official, Saleh Mousa al-Aazani, the assistant deputy governor of Sana'a province.

Police said it had arrested five supsects.

One report says that the gunmen were believed to belong to a hardline Islamic group which was in dispute with the official.
