Little progress on divided Cyprus
	Talks on ways of reuniting the divided island of Cyprus end in Geneva with little sign of progress. The United Nations mediator indicates it was highly unlikely that real headway towards a final settlement would be made by the end of the year, a wish expressed recently by the UN secretary-general, Kofi Annan.
