Germany considers ban on party

The German government says it's considering a ban on the extreme-right National Democratic Party, which is accused of promoting neo-Nazism.

The government spokesman, Uwe-Karsten Heye, said a working group would be convened as soon as possible to decide if the NDP should be declared unconstitutional.

The announcement follows a call yesterday by Germany's main employers' organization for extreme right-wing activists to be dismissed from their jobs.

It made the call after a series of attacks on foreigners.
