Chavez proclaimed Venezuelan president
The Venezuelan electoral authorities have officially proclaimed Hugo Chavez as president until 2006. Mr Chavez was re-elected with an overwhelming majority in last Sunday's general election. The president, who's already been in office for eighteen months, has promised what he termed a social and economic revolution to combat the country's problems.
