Rwanda slams Congo on conflict anniversary
Rwanda has accused the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo of launching a full scale offensive into rebel-held areas. A spokesman for the Rwandan government, Patrick Mazimpaka, said the offensive was taking place on all fronts and criticised Congo for breaking the peace agreement signed in Lusaka a year ago. There's been no independent confirmation. Mr Mazimpaka's statement coincides with the second anniversary of the launch of Congolese incursions into Rwanda. Correspondents say the statement may be an attempt to draw attention to the issue. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
