Forty hurt in Hong Kong attack

The Hong Kong authorities say about forty people were injured after mainland Chinese protestors demanding the right to live in Hong Kong fire bombed the immigration headquarters.

Many of the protestors set themselves alight; sixteen immigration department employees were also hurt, three seriously.

An immigration spokesman said the same group of protestors had made frequent visits to the offices in the past three months, demanding the right to remain in Hong Kong. Hundreds of mainland Chinese have already taken legal action to try to stay in the former British colony. Although Hong Kong reverted to Chinese rule three years ago, mainland Chinese are kept out by strict border controls.
