Man dies after road accident

A man has died in a road accident in Ballymena, County Antrim.

He was Martin McKernan, 47, from Knockeen Crescent in the town.

He died when the lorry he was driving crashed through a barrier at the Larne Road roundabout on Wednesday morning and ploughed down a steep embankment.

The police said no other vehicles were involved and they are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A total of 91 people have now died on Northern Ireland's roads in 2000.

Seventy-eight people were killed in the same period last year.
