Taylor: Guinea responsible for Lofa conflict

President Charles Taylor of Liberia has sharply criticised his Guinean counterpart, Lansana Conte, over repeated rebel incursions into northern Lofa County.

President Taylor accused Mr Conte of being responsible for the conflict and said the situation was very grave.

Guinea has denied any involvement.

Mr Taylor made his comments after a visit to a hospital in the Liberian capital, Monrovia, where more than seventy soldiers are being treated for injuries sustained in the fighting. He's described the soldiers as patriotic young people. Liberia declared a state of emergency in northern Lofa County last month.
