Rush for claims against Iraq invasion

Thousands of Kuwaitis have been crowding their law courts to file new compensation claims against Iraq for its occupation of their country ten years ago.

They believe they have only hours left to do this, after lawyers warned that the deadline was the tenth anniversary of the invasion tomorrow August 2.

The government however has gone on national radio to say there are in fact five more years in which to claim.

Kuwait has already filed claims to the UN compensation commission for more than one-hundred-and-fifty-billion dollars worth of damages it says the Iraqis caused.
