More EU aid for Ethiopia
The European Union has approved another one-and-a-half million dollars in aid for victims of the continuing drought in Ethiopia. A statement issued by the EU's executive arm, the European Commission, said the money would be spent on food, health care, water supplies and logistical support. It brings the EU's total aid package to Ethiopia this year to more than six million dollars. There was widespread criticism of the international community earlier this year for failing to respond quickly enough to the threat of impending famine in the Horn of Africa.
