Residents say rats are running around in broad daylight
People living on a north Wales housing estate have had to turn rat catchers after being plagued by rodents.

Parents living on the Maesydre estate in Wrexham, have said they are worried about their children's safety and have accused the council of being slow to act.

The council have laid down poison to kill the rats

The rats were first spotted on the estate almost a week ago.

Now they are said to be "swarming" into people's gardens and running around in broad daylight.

Families on the estate say they fear for their children's safety, with the youngsters playing in areas where it is thought the rats may be.

They say they are not satisfied with the council's response, which was to lay down rat poison and promise to return in a week to see if the poison had worked.

Wrexham Council says there is rarely an instant result and it can take two to three weeks for the poison to work.

And because of this, a spokesman added, an instant response is not always appropriate.
