Port of Abidjan to be extended
The government of Ivory Coast and the Anglo-Dutch consortium, Lodeco, say they have signed an agreement to build an extension to the port of Abidjan. The project -- said to be worth an estimated two-hundred million dollars -- includes the construction and thirty-year use of a new terminal, as well as the creation of a special economic zone and new telecommunications infrastructure. The consortium and the Ivorian government say the extension, to be funded by credits from the African Development Bank, will create more than ten-thousand jobs.
