One of apartheid's fiercest critics, playwright and director Athol Fugard, has returned to South Africa for the first time in 14 years to open a theatre named after him.

The honour has prompted Fugard to come out of retirement to direct a new play, which will premiere in his theatre in March.

Karen Allen reports from Cape Town.
