Sarkozy and Merkel at Armistice event

German Chancellor Angela Merkel joined the French President Nicolas Sarkozy for a ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris for Armistice Day.

Standing together, the two leaders rekindled the flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Angela Merkel is the first German chancellor to mark Armistice Day by attending the main French commemorative event.
