Sony Ericsson launches smartphone

Sony Ericsson is finally entering the smartphone market with the launch of the new X10 - its first mobile phone to run on Google's Android operating system.

The world's fourth largest handset maker is losing money and revenue - its sales fell 45% in the third quarter.

This is partly due to a lack of attractive high-end models - something which the likes of Apple, Samsung and Nokia introduced years ago.

The BBC's Rico Hizon asked the company's new president Bert Nordberg whether the launch of the new smartphone came too late.
