Revealing Mississippi's dark secrets

It is almost a year since Barack Obama was elected as America's first black president, an event that seemed to vindicate the historic struggle of African Americans for equal rights.

But the process of facing up to a racist past goes on.

The BBC's Philippa Thomas went to Mississippi to meet Jerry Mitchell, a newspaper reporter who has been digging deep into "cold cases" from the area's violent history.
