"When I got to New York drugs were everywhere and they quickly became part of my artistic experiment," explains veteran rocker John Cale.

The co-founder of the Velvet Underground describes how the 1960s and 70s New York art and music scene went hand-in-hand with drugs and how 'artistic experimentation' rapidly turned into a major drug habit which negatively affected his ability to write and perform.

Born and brought up in the Amman Valley, Cale returns to his roots to look at the problems of drug addiction and heroin abuse in modern Wales.
