Australia's devastated mining industry

Australia has enjoyed 17 years of economic growth, but the reserve bank has indicated that the country is expected to sink into recession this year.

Growth has been largely fuelled by demand for commodities, but the closure of one of its major mines suggests that the resources boom is over.
