Stam doubtful for Denmark clash
![]() Jaap Stam could miss Holland's next match
Defender Jaap Stam has strained his groin in training and is doubtful for Holland's Euro 2000 Group D match against Denmark.
Dutch coach Frank Rijkaard said Stam, who was substituted in his team's opening game against the Czech Republic with an injury just above the left eye which required stitching, would be tested for fitness over the next two days. "He has a groin strain," he said. "But the stitching over his eye is no longer a concern." Manchester United defender Stam took part in a training session with the team on Tuesday, sporting an impressive black eye. Rijkaard said his team, which beat the Czech Republic 1-0, has no other injury problems.
