Chinese leader ends Yugoslav visit
The chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress, Li Peng, has left Belgrade at the end of a three day official visit to Yugoslavia. Before his departure he laid a wreath at China's Belgrade embassy to commemorate the three Chinese people who were killed when it was bombed during NATO air attacks last year. Chinese American relations were soured following the incident despite an American apology and explanation that it had been a mistake. Mr Li is now going on to Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, Azerbaijan and Ukraine. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
