Zoologists are using female mating calls to try to lure back male elephants which have escaped from parks, putting people and themselves in danger.
This bull elephant in Etosha national park, Namibia, can be seen walking off then turning back as soon as he hears the mating call.
The animals use their trunks and feet to sense the noise as vibrations in the ground. In this speeded up film we only hear the top end of the call as the rest is below the hearing frequency of humans.
