Ask the experts

Throughout the tournament BBC Sport Online is offering you the chance to quiz Match of the Day's experts at Euro2000.

MOTD@Euro2000 is the highlights programme on BBC One presented by Ray Stubbs.

The team of experts includes established BBC names such as Alan Hansen and Trevor Brooking, as well as special guests like David O'Leary, Dion Dublin, Martin O'Neill and Johan Cruyff.

You can pose your question here - even during the programme - and then see if the experts give you an answer.

Your next chance to pose a question will be on Friday 16 June at 23:40 BST.

HAVE YOUR SAY

E-mails from the programme 16 June were answered by Dion Dublin and Mark Lawrenson.

Q: Even though I am a Liverpool fan, I think Barmby has to start against Germany. He is the right person to exploit Germany's defence. What do you think?

Mike Martin

Dion: Good point, good point. At the moment though I think anybody can exploit the German's defence. I don't think they have a very good defence at all.

Ray Stubbs: So, good point but you're on the bench Nicky Barmby.

Dion: Yeah, unfortunately.

Q: Why does Kevin Keegan persist with Emile Heskey? He is simply not international class.

Chris White

Mark: Well, he's a player with massive potential isn't he. Those kind of players have been discarded in the past. He offers you something different, if you look at the strikers that England have, he offers you something different. At the moment he's somewhat of a battering ram and he plays that way, but he will get better. Maybe you don't start with him. I wouldn't start with him. But I think he's a player who eventually will come into the England side to give you a different way of playing.

Dion: Emmy's done well. He's done well to get in the squad. He's very happy to be part of the England squad. He'll accept not playing because he's a young lad. He'll accept that he's got a lot to learn a lot more before he can get a first team place.

Q: What is this ridiculous myth that you shouldn't field young players like Gareth Barry in big games because of their inexperience. He has already played in an F.A. Cup Final. Youngsters these days are not like youngsters of ten years ago. Put the old guard out to pasture and bring on the kids before it's too late.

Kevin Mullarkey, Manchester

Dion He's fearless Gareth Barry. He's played in an F.A. Cup Final, like the gentleman said. But I think he's got more than just being a defender, he can go forward, he can cross the ball, he can get hold of it and bring people into the game. So I would give Gareth Barry a chance.

Mark: I would only play him in the position he plays for his club. As a young player he's an outstanding prospect but you don't pick him for England and ask him to play in a different position, in a different role.
