Two passenger trains collide in Pakistan

The authorities in Pakistan say at least two people have died in a train accident near the southern city of Karachi.

The crash occured early on Tuesday morning when one passenger train slammed into the back of another one near Jhampir railway station, killing a train driver and a guard.

Ten passengers were injured.

An inquiry has been launched but the cause of the crash has not yet been established.

The Pakistani military, which seized power last year, took control of the railways recently in an effort to reverse years of decline in the country's railway system.
