Teenager critical after game goes wrong
University Hospital of Wales
The teenager is at the University Hospital of Wales
A teenaged boy is fighting for his life after a two foot metal rod became embedded in his skull when a game with friends went badly wrong.

A police spokeswoman said that Dale Robinson, 13, is in a "critical" condition at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, south Wales.

He had been playing with three friends at Llanharry woods, near Pontypridd, south Wales, a popular spot with local children, when the incident happened.

It is understood they were playing a game involving throwing metal bars.

Police investigation

One bar speared Dale's head and became embedded three inches into his skull.

South Wales Police launched an investigation after the incident on Saturday afternoon but said they were no longer treating it as suspicious.

A teenager had been helping with inquiries but he was later released without charge.

A police spokeswoman said: "Following extensive inquiries we are satisfied that the incident should no longer be treated as suspicious."
