Gheorghe Popescu has extended his contract with Galatasaray for another three years according to his agent Ioan Becali.

No financial details were given for the 33-year-old's deal with the UEFA Cup winners.

It will come as a relief to Galatasaray who look likely to lose star strikers Arif Erdem and Hakan Sukur as well as coach Fatih Terim.

Meanwhile Romanian fans have taken to the streets of Bucharest and other cities around the country before their game with Germany.

Sukur will play in Serie A next season
"We are on the streets and we stay on the streets for your victory," the crowd were shouting earlier today.

A huge screen has been mounted in Revolution Square, the site of the revolt that brought down the communists in 1989, to show the match.
