Cuban children march for Elian

Tens of thousands of children have been marching in the Cuban capital, Havana, to demand the immediate return from the United States of six-year-old Elian Gonzalez.

The crowd, ranging from six-year-olds to teenagers, filed past the US Interests Section, chanting "Free Elian".

The protest, which was organised by the government, is the latest in six months of demonstrations to call for the boy to come home.

Six-year-old Elian, who was rescued off the Florida coast last November after his mother and ten others died trying to reach the US, has been reunited with his father.

They're living near Washington while courts consider an appeal by his Miami relatives to keep him in the United States.
