Kick-off 17:00 BST, Liege Germany and Romania have got their Euro 2000 campaigns underway in the opening game of Group A. As expected, Lothar Matthaus was picked to play for the Germans and he will face Romanian veteran Gheorghe Hagi. One notable absentee from the German side is striker Ulf Kirsten, who pinched a nerve in his back in training on Sunday, and started the game on the bench. Brazilian-born Paulo Rink partners captain Oliver Bierhoff in attack and midfielder Thomas Haessler started the match, winning his 100th cap.
