Connery tops ideal father poll

Acting idol Sir Sean Connery has been voted the celebrity father most men would like to have had, with fellow Scot Billy Connolly in second place.

Rolling Stone Mick Jagger was voted the star father men would least like to have had, according to the poll by Nivea for Men.

The 56-year-old rock legend came bottom in a survey of eight famous fathers, pulling in just 2% of the vote.

Sir Sean - who has famously topped many desirability polls among women - took first place in the Father's Day survey.

The 69-year-old former 007 took the votes of more than 150 of the 500 men questioned.

Billy Connolly was the runner-up, capturing 26% of available votes, while soccer legend George Best came in third with 13%.

But while those questioned yearned for the chance to inherit Sir Sean's good looks or Connolly's sense of humour, they were less keen to make a pitch for the wealth of the world's richest men.

Neither Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates nor tycoon Donald Trump fared well in the questionnaire, reaching fourth and seventh places respectively.

Cricketing veteran Ian Botham and Hollywood star Michael Douglas came in joint fifth place, each taking 6% of the vote.

Commenting on Sir Sean's success, Ann-Louise Holland, Nivea for Men spokeswoman, said: "Sales of men's skincare products have increased dramatically over the years, so it is no surprise that a man who has become the epitome of 'growing old gracefully' has come out top.

"Men today expect to look younger for longer. A good skincare regime is one way of achieving this. Having Sean Connery as your dad may be another."
