Uefa confirms Latal suspension

Radoslav Latal, who received a red card for dissent after being substituted in Sunday's defeat against Holland, will miss the Czech Republic's next match aginst France, Uefa has confirmed.
The veteran defender was dismissed from the bench after he and a number of his colleagues argued with fourth official Kyros Vassaras of Greece following a penalty which condemed the Czechs to an unlucky 1-0 defeat. "Latal's suspension will take effect immediately and he will therefore miss the Czech Republic's upcoming match versus France," a Uefa statement revealed. Forward Pavel Nedved was also reprimanded for kicking the ball towards a security officer and then into the stand in anger at his substitution. Punishment Coach Josef Chovanec admitted his players had allowed their frustration to boil over but felt Latal's punishment was too harsh. "There are emotions in any football match. But I don't think those emotions went beyond the acceptable limit," he said. The Czechs meet France in their second Group D match on Friday in Bruges, and Chovanec has urged his players to "not get mad, but get even." He explained: "I didn't watch the video and I have no intention of seeing it again. I have a match against France ahead and I would like to concentrate fully on that. "This fresh wound is hurting and I would like to try to look to the future."
