Twin makes late appearance
![]() The births have attracted media attention
A mother has given birth to her second twin - nearly a month after the first was born.
Sandra Beveridge gave birth to Chloe in Edinburgh's Simpson Memorial Maternity Pavilion at 1524BST on Sunday. The little girl was delivered by Caesarean section and weighed 2lb 11oz. Twin brother Edward was 14 weeks premature and weighed less than 2lb when he was born on 14 May. 'Stable' When Chloe did not follow him, staff decided to leave her where she was and Ms Beveridge, 25, was sent home to Livingston, West Lothian, to rest. She was taken into hospital on Sunday after going into labour and Chloe was born a few hours later. A spokesman for the hospital said on Monday that mother and baby were "stable". Meanwhile the twins' grandmother Kathleen Beveridge, 48, told the Daily Record: "The first indications are that mother and baby are doing well. "We're absolutely thrilled for Sandra - she has done so well. And we're happy and relieved it's all over." 'Very unusual' Margaret McGuire, of the Royal College of Midwives, described the case as "exceptionally rare". She said: "I haven't heard of a case that's gone on as long as this where the baby has held on for 28 days. "It's reasonably common for a baby to be born 24 hours after its twin or even two or three days after but this is very unusual." She added: "Even though the two babies were born at different gestations they will catch up with each other."
