Pebble Beach draw
Parnevik will tee off with Tiger Woods
Parnevik will tee off with Tiger Woods
US Open favourite Tiger Woods will tee off with Ryder Cup team-mate Jim Furyk and Jesper Parnevik at the start of the 100th tournament at Pebble Beach on Thursday.

Woods and Swede Parnevik are first and fourth on this season's American money-list and they will not have to wait long to lock horns.

Woods, with four wins, has won more than $4m already and Parnevik, with two wins, has earned more than $2m this season.

They tee off at 8.40am local time on Thursday - 1640 BST.

Lee Westwood will have begun his US Open challenge 30 minutes before that with 1996 winner Steve Jones and Hal Sutton, winner of the Players Championship in March.

Both Darren Clarke and Colin Montgomerie are late starters on the opening day.

European Order of Merit leader Clarke plays at 12.30pm local time (2030 BST) with Fred Couples and Jeff Maggert, while Montgomerie is out 40 minutes after that with Davis Love and Greg Norman.

Open champion Paul Lawrie, who has been battling a groin injury for the past two weeks, has been drawn with Jack Nicklaus in what could be the 60-year-old Golden Bear's final US Open appearance - on the course where he won in 1972 and was pipped by Tom Watson in 1982.

A total of 16 Europeans are in the 156-strong field, including little-known Scot Graham Davidson, who is based in America and came through the qualifying competition last week.
