Car bomb attack in Grozny
Russian military officials say two soldiers have been killed in a suicide attack in the Chechen capital Grozny. Earlier reports quoting Chechen rebels suggested four servicemen had died when a car bomb exploded near a checkpoint on Sunday. The reports said the driver of the car also died. Sporadic violence has continued in Grozny although the Russian authorities say the city is under their control. Reports have also been coming in of fighting breaking out today Monday in Argun. There are no details so far as to casualties. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
