Indian police break up Kashmiri demo

Police in Indian-administered Kashmir have used tear gas to break up an angry demonstration by hundreds of Muslims in the capital, Srinagar.

The demonstrators were protesting against the alleged killing of a thirty-two-year-old shopkeeper by Indian border guards.

Relatives and friends of the shopkeeper, Rafiq Bakal, say he was shot dead by border guards, after they detained him in Srinagar on Saturday night.

Police say they have begn an investigation.

Meanwhile at least twelve people have been killed in the past twenty-four hours in violence linked with Kashmiri separatism.
