Pierce completes French double
Mary Pierce and Martina Hingis
Pierce and Hingis: Rivals and partners
Mary Pierce collected her second French Open title in the space of 24 hours when she won the Women's doubles along with partner Martina Hingis.

The third-seeded French-Swiss combination beat 10th-seeded Virginia Ruano Pascual of Spain and Paolo Suarez of Argentina 6-2, 6-4 in the final.

On Saturday, Pierce had become the first French winner of the Women's singles title in 33 years with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Conchita Martinez of Spain.

The doubles win took Pierce and Hingis just an hour.

On Saturday Australia's Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge won the Men's doubles title to become the most successful doubles partnership in the Open era (since 1968).

'The Woodies' have now won 58 titles, one more than John McEnroe and Peter Fleming and Bob Hewitt and Frew McMillan.
