Joachim wants move back to Foxes

Aston Villa striker Julian Joachim wants to move back to his old club Leicester City.
The former England Under-21 international asked for a transfer request last week after a war of words with manager John Gregory. Joachim was a firm favourite at Filbert Street before his move to Villa Park for £1.5m over five years ago. The diminutive striker appeared regularly in Villa's starting 11 last season, but has recently been out of favour with his boss. "The situation is right for me to move back to Leicester if they want me. Myself and my family live in the area and I actually own a restaurant in the city," said Joachim. Beneficial "I had some great times at Leicester and I would have no worries about going back there. The fans were brilliant towards me and the club have become an established force in the Premiership."
And Joachim is adamant that Peter Taylor can be beneficial to the Foxes, if he comes in as manager. "Martin O'Neill did a fantastic job for the club, but Peter Taylor can also only be good for Leicester City given his record in recent years," added the striker. "I would be interested in talking to other clubs, but I have to be honest and say that Leicester City would be my number one chance." Joachim's team-mate Gareth Southgate has also handed in a transfer request and defender Ugo Ehiogu has stated that he is dissatisfied with the Birminghmam club. |
